Geography

Lucas Krebs
Geography

Pantanal is one of the main ecosystems in Brazil and also the largest wetland in the world. It occupies two brazilians states, Mato Grosso Do Sul and Mato Grosso, the north of Paraguay and the east of Bolivia.

Pantanal highlights more on its beautiful fauna. Showing about 650 bird species, 100 mammals, 260 fish and 50 reptiles. But when we went there we saw alligators, capivaras, fish (golden painted curimbatá, pacu), otters , monkey, deer, lobo-guará,  jabuti, snake.

In pantanal the land is always plan. It’s very common to rain there, is the reason why there are many floated rivers. The main activities in pantanal are livestock and tourism. They also do a lot of fishing because there are a large quantity of rivers and fishes. The beauty of the pantanal attract a lot of people in Brazil and in the world bringing a lot of tourists there, creating many jobs. It has about 2000 km square of pantanal.

Location, Climate and Vegetation

Lucas Krebs
Location, Climate and Vegetation

Patanal is located in three countries. Brazil (62%), Bolivia (20%) and Paraguay (18%).
In Brazil, it takes the Mato Grosso Do Sul and Mato Grosso states.
And is in the Centro Oeste region.

Campo Grande, Cuiabá and Bonito are the largest cities around pantanal.
In pantanal you can find many rivers, such as Rio Formoso, Rio Sucuri, which are the two rivers we visited.
The rivers in pantanal help a lot the people who live there. They can find their needs in  rivers (food, water bath)
Pantanal is a very unique feature about Brazil. It’s very hard to find something alike. It’s also the largest wetland found on Earth.

In pantanal there are only two seasons: dry and rainy.

The vegetation there are cerrado and caatinga.

People get adapted to pantanal by wearing cooler clothes because is a really hot place.

Days

Days
Day 1: We went to the airport in brasilia. In Cuiaba, we made a stop in a restaurant at the airport, and ate lunch there, and then we headed to the Fazenda. We stoped at a little market in our way. When we first got there, we unpacked our stuff, and went to the Night Safari.
Day 2:
We woke up, and our beds were completely wet, we then realized that it was raining. We headed to a place where we ate our breakfast. Because of the raining, we had to did something else instead of the Piranha Fishing, and the Day Safari, so we went to a cabin and did some games about what we have learned so far. After that we did a Snack Break, and headed to the Day Safari. After the Day safari, we went to Piranha Fishing.
Day 3:
We ate our breakfast, and headed to the bus, we were leaving the fazenda and going straight ahead to Bonito, we stopped at that same little market.
At bonito, we unpacked our stuff at the hotel, and went to the city to have lunch. After that we had a little break in the hotel, a great opportunity to play soccer. Then we went Rafting, in a river nearby. My team, which was Ms. Sabrina’s one, went in last place, we threw water in all of the other boats, we saw a Anaconda, and last but not least (It is actually the most important part) we did four 360 in a row, and, we WON the race.
Day 4:
We went to Laguna Azul. It was a great activity that we did, and of the best ones, because we made some groups, so it was a great opportunity to know each other better, and we did. After the laguna, we went snorkeling, it was amazing, the place was beautiful, the river was well preserved and we had a lot of fun, after the snorkeling, we had lunch, and went back to the hotel. In the hotel, we made a party that night, in which was divided into two parts, one with the teachers, and one with our friends, and in my opinion, it was difficult to realized which one was better, because all of them were perfect.
Day 5:  We woke up, packed our stuff, had breakfast, and then, it was all over, we said goodbye to the hotel, and all the funny things we did that, but they were still in our memories. At the airport we had lunch at the same restaurant we had when we first got there. We headed to the airplane and flew to brasilia, where our parents were eager to see us, and to listening to all of our stories that we made in this trip.

Favorite Activity

Our favorite activity was the rafting. Before rafting me made four teams and the guides explain the rule: we would have a water fight but we couldn't steel the bucket of the other team, we also had to take the water out of the boat, and we couldn't go out of the boat. Our group started at last position, we threw water in all of the other boats, we did four 360 in a row, and we won the race.

Welcome

Impressions:

When we got there we felt the hot humid air and the smell of the exotic plants from the Pantanal.

We also saw huge fields of crops, and we saw differents animals, such as capivaras during day safari, and night safari.

We thought that was going to be the best trip ever, not just because we were with our best friends, but because we were with our best teachers as well.

Transportation:

They are basicly the same but as we were on a farm there were only dirt roads.

Accomodations:

We thought that the rooms would be better because we saw some pictures and they looked like they were a lot bigger. But comparing the two the hotel in bonito was much greater than the one in fazenda, because of the pool and the soccer field.

Surrounding:

We noticed that the climate was humid most of the time and it was Cerrado just like Brazilia because it is in the same region. The landscape was dry and desert with few trees. The people were really simple and weren´t fancy at all. The food was mainly churrasco.
